Hi ponies,
It's that time of year again!!!
Sadly we will be loosing some of our beloved committee this year
BUT this gives YOU the opportunity to join the committee and be part of PonyCon!
UK Ponycon will recruit 6 staff temporary staff this year for the 2014 committee.
UK Ponycon will recruit a number of temporary staff to serve for 1 year (from Jan-Dec). These staff will be recruited for specific roles that may change from year to year. Roles will be advertised describing the responsibilities and the required attributes for the job.
In the interests of flexibility; people will selected on the basis of the range of their skills and experience, their reliability and level of commitment to Ponycon. This means you may be given the job we feel you would be most suited too, and this might not be the role you apply for
Anyone can apply to be a member of temporary staff and staff selections will be made by the Permanent Committee Staff, or where deemed appropriate for a Role, by public vote.
Here is a full list of the positions that are available:
Fundraising co-ordinator and Fundraising Assistant
Duties: Organising the events and fundraisers that take place online in the run up to the convention, this could be in the form of raffles, prize draws, contests etc. Selling items on Ebay for the convention such as excess donations.
Events co-ordinator
Organise the events and panels that will take place on the main days, this means ensuring that there is plenty going on for attendees, that volunteers are where they need to be and at the right times, that you have things you need for the events and that the events themselves cater to the different kinds of pony fans we have. Events does include all on the day things so it’s up to you guys whether we have a disco again or an organised meal etc ^_~
Art assistant: two positions available
Duties: this includes website maintenance, the conbook - getting articles, fan art from people and ensuring it’s all collated in time to be sent to the printers, designing other artwork as and when it’s required by other committee members such as to advertise raffles on other forums of to be put onto banners for use that the convention itself.
Forums poster (on MLPArena, UKofE and the TP)
You will be responsible for ensuring that the world knows about ponycon. You’ll liaise mostly with the fundraising group to put the word out about events we have running, but also with treasurer and chair to announce ticket sales and any other announcements we make. You’ll need to write in a manner suitable to the audience so some posts will need to be adjusted depending on where you post them (eg. On the arena you might want to put more focus on events that will appeal to collectors but then on UKofE alter it so the focus is on the G4 stuff) You’ll also need to keep up-to-date with ticket sales for raffles etc and update posts with numbers accordingly (people like to see that their payment has gone through ok and will check the posts to see if their numbers have been added)

I want to take this chance to remind you that this hard work, but also extremely rewarding! It is like having an unpaid job as you will have all the responsibility of a job, but no pay! You must be prepared to work hard and pitch in when and where needed.
