Fundraising co-ordinator and Fundraising Assistant
With PonyCon fundraising, the majority of the work is done in the months running up to the convention: no funds = no convention! Ideally there will always be a fundraiser running and one in the works.
The fundraising co-ordinator needs to be good with figures, organised, be able to plan and efficiently run previously profitable online events along with thinking up new and fun ways to raise funds for the convention. Must be online frequently, will work closely with the Treasurer and the rest of the committee, must be trustworthy and prepared to put in a lot of hours of planning time along with being able to deal with PMs and emails relating to various fundraising events. Must be able to motivate, help, encourage and co-ordinate fundraising opportunities run by other members of the community outside of the committee.
The Fundraising Co-ordinator must be able to handle the convention eBay account and be responsible for listing and shipping donated items. You will be responsible for ensuring that ponies and other items are acquired in plenty of time for the popular Prize Draws and for the Grand Charity Auction. You will be responsible for organising fundraisers to be run during PonyCon itself, such as the “Things in a Jar”.
Events Co-ordinator and 2 Events assistants
Your duty is to organise the events and panels that will take place on the main days of PonyCon. This means ensuring that there is plenty going on for attendees, that volunteers are where they need to be and at the right times, that you have things you need for the events and that the events themselves cater to the different kinds of pony fans which attend.
You will need to be a keen planner, have an eye for a good game, be creative with your competitions, and most importantly be well organized. You must be willing to make announcements and be a key point of contact in the run up to the convention (to provide answers on all sorts of information about the actual convention days) and most importantly at the actual event.
Key skills required are: adequate social skills for addressing both individuals and a whole room of pony collectors (you will need to be friendly and approachable at all times), dedication to your job, enthusiasm and creativity in your planning, and some serious organizational skills. The events team have one of the busiest committee roles on the actual convention days so a lot of energy is a must! Relevant experience such as working with the public is desirable.
Art assistant
Your main duty is to assist the Art Co-Ordinator. Your duties may be as follows: website maintenance, assist with the conbook - getting articles, fan art from people and ensuring it’s all collated in time to be sent to the printers, assist designing artwork as and when it’s required by other committee members: such as to advertise raffles on other forums or to be put onto banners for use that the convention itself.
Please pm me, pinkkittywinks with your application, you must title your pm with the position that you are applying for. I will accept applications for the next few weeks starting from today 31 October until 22 November 2014 with a view to a cooling off period in the last week of November for “rooming in” new committee members.
I want to take this chance to remind you that this hard work, but also extremely rewarding! It is like having an unpaid job as you will have all the responsibility of a job, but no pay! You must be prepared to work hard and pitch in when and where needed.
Love pkw xxx
