Part 2 of the pre-documents is the Ponyworld History, Culture & Species section. As important as the Glossary, this gives an idea of the way of life in Ponyworld, & how it has grown over the years. This too has been long in the making. PS: I FRIZZING HATE the tiny size of regular G4s...
PONYWORLD CULTURE & SPECIES SUMMARY
General:- Ponyworld is integrated with the oldest Ponies in it being the G1 Adults, aging 25 & over. The oldest G1 Adults are even old enough to be mothers & grandmothers to the newest adults, like the Characters & the Dutch Ponies. The Pocket Friends, Sweet Talking, Secret Surprise, & the Twins Mum are the oldest, & the parents of even the early G1s. Next in age are the G3 Adults, ranging from 15-24 in age. They are the high school/ college students in Ponyworld, some getting employed immediately they arrive, while others have to study first, especially Custom G3s. The Chibis are next in age, at 13-14 years old, what with there being so few of them, & most are definite sisters of other G3 Ponies. After this come Dabble, Scribbles & the G2 Adults. They are aged between 11 & 14, & are the middle school students. We have just begun our mission of Customising FIM Ponies as G2-aged Ponies to fit them here. G1 Babies (Juniors as we call them) are next, with First Tooths & Lucky-pose Boys being the oldest, & the BBEs being the youngest, along with Mocha Nut & Dance Around. They are between 6 & 10 & are the primary school-aged Ponies, except the Customs not Based on Hasbro, who are all 5 & at preschool. The Drink & Wet Babies are a bit less capable than the others & learn more slowly, which isn’t their fault of course; it’s just the way they are, but their actual age is around the middle of the Juniors. G3 babies are between 4 & 5 years old, & like the Custom G1 Babies are in preschool. G1 Newborns are actually 2-3 years old now, with Newborn Cuties between 1 ½ & 2 ½ years of age. Teeny Tinies & G2 Babies are the real babies of Ponyworld, being 1 or less, with the Surprise Twins being the youngest, & Pyjama (see Custom Pages) the second youngest. Regarding the G4s, we don’t know where to place them. We’d hoped they’d be G2-aged (meaning similar in size to them) to boost the numbers of Ponies of that age, but they are similar in size to the Juniors, which doesn’t make sense as they often travel alone & have their own pets, for example, which is more likely among middle schoolers than primary schoolers, as is Twilight Sparkle’s fixation with study & Jacqui’s responsibilities at the farm. So all we can really do is hope to consider them a little growth-stunted, unless we Customise them all as G2s & sell them off, except the Twilight Sparkles & the G4 Customs based on other Ponies. We have decided finally to continue to include them in our Ponyworld, but as a different race of Pony; due mainly to their mostly smaller size. We are currently in the process of writing a story about their discovery, & about their slightly different civilisation, located to the south of the known Ponyworld. You’ll note Customs are always the youngest, except the G1 Adult males, who can be any age over 25 we want, mainly to assist in giving the G1 Adult females a chance to marry. The Based on Hasbro Customs also are not classed as the youngest, making Logan Berrytown & Dandy older than Orbit & Bongo, to give an example. UTH Ponies are also more likely to be older than Ponies we only heard about online as well, making Whizzer older than Sweet Pop. Year of release is also considered, so Sweetiebelle is the youngest non-Custom G3 Unicorn, while Starsong is the youngest adult G3 Pegasus. And one more thing: the Rumpmark is called exactly that: a rumpmark, as it’s a marking on the Pony’s rump. Rump is the term used for the Pony’s rear-end at Clopton General Hospital, while the intimates are known as the under-rump. The term Cutie Mark is only used by Ponies who come from places like the Cabbage Patch Catholic School, where any reference to the rump is avoided at all costs, & even hip & tush are considered dodgy, which baffles us, as Humans & Doll-People use the word bum to refer to their equivalent all the time, & over in the States it’s the word butt… In fact, the only time a rumpmark is called a symbol is on a TAF or the like where it’s all over the body rather than just on her rump (the exception to this is in the S-Club Pony song “So Cool To Be A G3”, as the term Cutie Mark was introduced with them, & Songster doesn’t want them offending anybody).
Species & Breeding:- Flutter Ponies, Summer Wing Ponies, Windy Wing Ponies & the G3 & G4 Breezies are another species, Equinus Aerialus, with none of them related to any of the normal Ponies & unable to interbreed. Sea Ponies may be yet another different species, Mannus Aquaticus, but as they are more similar in both size & shape to their land-based equivalents, Barnacle & Tug & other adult G1 Males who venture out to sea are able to mate & conceive offspring with them, otherwise how would the Baby Sea Ponies & Fancy Mermaids even exist??? In the Special Winged Ponies’ case, magic, not conception, is the basis of reproductive activity. Petites & Charms are another species as well, Mannus Micromus, & are also unable to interbreed with their larger counterparts, but able to with each other, as males among Petites are much harder to tell apart from the females, except of course that all Petite pegasi & Translucis are female. The Charms of course are all female. Then we have the Minimac Ponies, & their relatives the Dollymix Ponies (both sub-species of Equinus Minimus), who are yet another species. Male Minimacs are rare, but they do exist, & more can be Customised, to help with breeding. As for the Ponyvillians (Equinus Minimus), well we only have a few G3s & G4s among us, so are just beginning our research on them, but we think males are very possible among them, & unicorns & pegasi definitely feature. Also as yet we have no Mannus Maximus, or Dream Beauties, who again seem to have no unicorns in their number; nor do we have any Mannus Giganticus, or My Pretty Ponies, a very rare crossbreed between Mannus Minimus & Mannus Plushius. Mannus Plushius, like most Plushians, seem to vary in size considerably; from barely as big as non-Plushians, all the way to nearly Human-sized (as yet we have no examples of the latter size here, but are aware of their existence). Obviously there are no Translucis (see below) among them, but a few Unicorns & Pegasi exist among them. For breeding purposes we have other Plushian horses & ponies, with whom they can happily conceive Soft-Body Newborns. The real thing bugging us about Mannus Plushius is the wide variety of hair types, only two of which are groomable: tufty Russ Troll hair & actual Pony hair. Yarn, fabric strips & solid fabric are known to exist among Plushian Ponies, & really frustrate the Plushian Pony’s natural desire for a tail ribbon & a good brushing, though yarn & fabric strips can be plaited & styled. Obviously each Friend group is its own species, like the Care Bears & their relatives, the Cousins, are one species, while the Fairy Tails are another, & the Wuzzles a third. Back to our Ponies, there are sub-species of Mannus Minimus (thanks to Little Pony Heaven for this term for ordinary-sized MLPs) within the Ponies, the most notable three of which we outline here. Mannus Translucis (all female & no sons are produced in any interbreeding) have transparent bodies & are more prone to sunburn than other Ponies, so prefer night work or being underground. The other two sub-species are the Pegasi & the Unicorns, but having wings &/ or a horn is mostly determined by the presence of certain genes in the offspring of a mating, & as such genes are suppressed in all males (the only exception being Shining Armour, & his horn doesn’t do anything; it’s just there), there’s no accurate way of telling whether the offspring of a Unicorn will be an earth Pony, another Unicorn, a Pegasus or even a Pegacorn (winged Unicorn), who are starting to appear in our Ponyworld, with the G4 Pegacorns being the size we wish all G4s were. Even among Earth Ponies, Unicorns & Pegasi are sometimes conceived for the same reason. Fortunately though, aside from being suppressed by the male chromosomes, the wing genes are very dominant, & therefore on every mating with a Pegasus, if a female is born, she too will be a Pegasus. It may even be possible for sons of Pegasi to father winged offspring in Earth or Unicorn mothers (watch out Starlight, your next daughter may have wings!!!). This explains why Fifi is a Unicorn, but both Felicity & Fiona are Earths, as well as the TAF Junior issue, to give examples. Mannus Micromus has no horn genes whatsoever, unlike the Translucis sub-species, which has filtered down to them (though we as yet have no examples of this), or the dominant wing gene. Only Mannus Aquaticus seems able to suppress the wing & horn genes more thoroughly than the male chromosome, as no winged or horned Sea Pony has yet been born. Fancy Mermaids are the half-breed results of Mannus Aquaticus having to breed with land-based males. Regarding colouring: the Pink gene is the most dominant, & always has been in every Generation, while the Green gene is most submissive. Other colour genes vary in strength, like the Blue gene, quite common in G1s, is a lot rarer in G2s, while the Orange gene, the second-rarest in G1s, is more common in G3s. Ice Crystal, the greenest of the males, is the Stallion of choice for a female who wishes not to marry, but to conceive a carbon copy of herself. The gender bias among all Ponies still tends more strongly towards the female, so if you’re a Stallion, you’re more than welcome & have your pick among the mares here…
Shifting:- Often referred to, this affliction, from which most G1s are immune, is common among G2s & G3s, & we are becoming aware it can also affect G4s. Shifting happens when, at the whim of Hasbro, a Pony’s name, appearance or Ponyality can be altered or adjusted. Some Ponies are more affected than others, with Ivy being the most prone among the G2s, while dependent on the strength or flexibility of the Pony’s character, said effects can be more or less traumatic. Millie for example finds Shifting a breeze, as each Shift to her is just another part of her multi-faceted hyperactive Ponyality coming through, with each Shift representing a different mood. Whereas Cherry Blossom uses her strong character to fight against the Shifting that threatens to change her name to that of either a purple Unicorn with pink hair, or her Chibi-aged sister. Toola Roola also regularly struggles against her Shifting, mostly the one trying to alter her colouring to match that of her younger sisters, while Pinkie Pie finds hers so confusing she doesn’t know who she’s meant to be half the time, as hers always affects her Ponyality. Very few G1s understand Shifting, as most G1s only really Shift in pose, or outward appearance (eg So-Soft versus Non-So-Soft). The only exceptions are Skydancer Rainbow & Starshine, one of whom is transformed into an Earth Pony, while the other’s hair changes colours. Both fight these Shifts constantly. But always, the Ponyality remains unchanged for a G1. In some G2s, & almost all G3s, the Ponyality can be altered, sometimes radically, by her Shifts. With G4s, the Shifting seems to be mostly in pose or appearance, for example giving Twilight Sparkle, Daisy Dreams & Rare Gem wings, or adding details to their bodies, hair or rumpmarks. G4 Ponyalities appear so far to be fixed.
Beliefs & Cultures:- No matter what you may think to the contrary, not everypony believes in Hasbro, except as a mark on the hoof to indicate that a Pony is, in fact, a Pony & not an NHP or a dumb horse. Even less Ponies believe in the Human, & fewer still believe in God, Jesus or the Donkey. Although the last non-belief is quite understandable (for example, Kimono is a practising Buddhist), the remaining two stink of being denials in Ponyworld, as both the Human (Who is the author of the main site) & Hasbro actually exist. The Customs & the UTH are the most likely among the Ponies to believe in the Human, while the group who believe in Hasbro, though a bit larger, is more varied & less predictable. Some Ponies who Shift believe the cause of the Shifting is Hasbro, & hate Hasbro for it, while other Shifting Ponies don’t, & try to work out what’s causing it. Feelings towards Hasbro from believers in it as a company or the origin of Ponies, often vary from adoration & thanks among the early G1s, through frustration among the later G1s, to utter detestation by Shifting G3s. Whereas feelings towards the Human among believers are always fond, kind & loving, with Her often mentioned in the prayers of Ponies who also believe in the Donkey. Admiration for the Human in Her fight against Hasbro is also prominent among Shifting believers, as is joy at being Made & included from the Customs. God, the Donkey & Jesus are interchangeable among the Ponies, except those who believe there is a God, but not the rest of it. Attitudes among believers in Jesus & the Donkey are generally a fond awe, along the lines of “wow, somebody this powerful really wants to help me!”, & gratitude is the main emotion conjured up by such belief. Pony belief in the Donkey is very similar to Human belief in Jesus ie: one through whom all your sin can be forgiven, one whom you walk with from there on, one in whose name you pray to God for assistance & in thanks; and the fundamentals of helping others by serving others, giving kindness whether it’s given to you or not, loving all whether they love you or not, & realising that even the best of us make mistakes, while even the worst of us have some good in us. Many methodology religions, as well as Judaism, also exist among the Ponies, as does atheism, acreatism (non-belief in Hasbro) & asapieism (non-belief in the Human). But most important to note is this: ALL PONIES ARE VEGETARIAN!!! Not a single Pony eats any product that results from the killing of another living creature. They understand that the dietary requirements of their pets, like cats, dogs & dragons; & some of their Friends, in particular the Fairy Tails, but also Kingsley the Lion, & some of the Care Bear Cousins; require those pets & Friends to eat meat, but they themselves, & any Doll-People staying with them, stick to their vegetarian diets. Meat for those who need it is as unprocessed as possible, & killed quickly by Care Bear Cousins who eat meat, or dead of a natural cause. It may be chopped or minced, but if a Doll-Person wants cured ham or smoked bacon or spam, they have to wait till they return to their land. Ponies use a special non-animal rennet to make their cheeses, & pectin for their jellies. They also make great vegetarian burgers & vegetarian sausages, especially Munchy. Even the Sea Ponies eat only kelps & plankton. All Ponies have a strong love of their fellow creatures, & do their utmost to care for them, though they’re glad of their meat-eating Friends for jobs like processing dead animals into meat, & bones for their pet dogs. They just don’t have the hearts to do it!!! All Earth Ponies love fashion, though for most it’s a non-essential, except the Translucis, who need the clothes to protect them from the sun, & the very young, who need kept warm in the winter. G2, G3 & G4 Ponies love hairclips in their manes, & everypony gets a tail ribbon! Tail ribbons: NO MALE GETS A PINK RIBBON!!! In fact, except for male members of Families, all males get bright or dark-coloured ribbons. Members of Pegasus Flight get mane ribbons: G1s get navy mane ribbons, Flutters get green mane ribbons, Wingers get sparkly gold mane ribbons, Breezies get iridescent sparkly mane ribbons, G3s & G4s get golden yellow mane ribbons, & G2s get white mane ribbons. Long-haired G1s get thick ribbons, & all non-Pegasi get 2. The manes of all long-haired Ponies get styled into either French plaits, rope plaits, rope braids or mini plaits, except the Pegasi, who just get a basic plait like everypony gets in her tail, & every winged pony gets in her mane. There is no such thing as an orange ribbon, & only males get red or burgundy, to make up for their not getting pink or magenta, which the females get. Princesses & Wingers get sparkly ribbons in their tails, while Minimacs & Dollymixes get thinner ribbons in theirs. We have still to assign tail ribbons to the tailed Petites, but it’s likely they will also be the thinner ribbons. Ponies can graze, but exercise discretion in their grazing, knowing how long or short the grass should be in certain areas, & what they can & can’t eat in others. They can’t, however, consume hay, unlike NHPs or dumb horses & ponies, as it’s too dry for them, but they can find a good pile of hay makes a great mattress. Also they ensure they’re never facing anybody when bringing up cud to chew. Unlike Equinus Normalis (dumb horses) or Equinus Piccolis (dumb ponies) or Mannus Hyperalamus (below), Ponies sleep lying down on beds, preferably not beds they have to climb on, but ones on the ground with good mattresses to cushion them underneath & cozy blankets or quilts to keep them warm above, as even the So Softs lose heat while sleeping otherwise. Ponies also sit on cushions, rather than in chairs, as it’s easier for them anatomically. They do however provide chairs for their Doll Person guests. Pony closets, where they go to relieve themselves, are more like the continental variety of hole in the floor than the Human version that you sit on, as Ponies are anatomically better at squatting than sitting. Some have tailhooks to help a Pony keep her tail out of the way, while others don’t, & a Pony has to do this herself with a forehoof. Of course sometimes the tail slips, resulting in the real Pooptail the Parlours & Salons regularly have to clean. The resulting slurry from the closets is mixed with other dungs to make fertilisers, therefore wasting nothing. Ponies hate wasting anything, & are glad Junket’s arrived to run the recycling centre more efficiently.
NHPs:- Less intelligent & uglier than their Hasbronian companions, Mannus Hyperalamus, the Non-Hasbronian Pony, is also stronger, faster & less aware of hygiene than Mannus Hasbronius, the species name all Ponies fall under. Phonies, as they are rather coarsely nicknamed, are also allergic to shampoo & likely to graze anywhere, & not just on designated feeding grass, so have to be kept away from lawns & ornamental grasses, as well as poisonous shrubs & ground plants. They are most likely to be given work pulling carts of stock, mine carts or taxi carriages; or carrying heavy loads & Doll-People on their backs (always with a blanket & a saddle to protect the load or Doll-Person; they can often be dirty & sweaty). Cleaning them, & cleaning up after them, can be a messy job, although their dung is a reasonable addition to fertilisers, & the first job most adult G1s or G3s are assigned is that very one. Many newly-arrived G3 Adults who wish to study also do this work part time to help fund their courses. NHPs are accommodated in their own Stables, which also have to be kept clean, as they are both messy eaters & impossible to toilet train, as well as sick ones throwing up anywhere. No NHP would know what a closet was for! There are other words for NHPs which are covered in the swearing section of the Glossary. The fact they are swear words should give you an indication of the opinion most Ponies have of NHPs. In short, most are disgusted by them, & though they understand the necessity of their existence, often tolerate them with gritted teeth if at all. And of course every day they’re glad they aren’t NHPs… Please note: Mannus Bratticus, the Bratz Pony, is not Mannus Hyperalamus, but nor is she Mannus Minimus. We have a few Bratz Ponies here, with a similar intelligence to Mannus Minimus, but a lot less physical ability, as their forehooves are more like hands than hooves, to even more of an extent than Mannus Minimus, which makes using them to walk on painful for these Ponies, & hinders their running & jumping capabilities. They are, however, excellent writers & artists for the same reason, & as such are often employed scribing historical documents or as undersecretaries in Council. They love hairstyles, & often attend the Parlours & Salons, but never see the point in clothes, & never need them, except maybe a simple cape for sleeping or when it’s exceptionally cold. Like Minimus they sleep lying down, but can sleep happily on a clean floor. Mannus Cabbagius, the Cabbage Patch Pony, although we have no examples here yet, is featured in the Ponyworld as the species in charge of the Cabbage Patch Catholic School. These ponies are larger, wider & less attractive than Mannus Hasbronius, with short tempers because of this; hence their strict methods of running the school. Finally Diamond & Glitter, the Keypers, though not Mannus Minimus or Mannus Bratticus, are definitely NOT NHPs, but classed instead as the Keyper species of Friend.
Customs:- Custom Ponies are Made by the Human from poorly conditioned Ponies or common Ponies. Their bodies are often repainted, they are almost all rehaired, they are given new rumpmarks & eye colours, & their names, types, years of Completion & the Human’s nickname are all written on their hooves. Some Ponies don’t like them as they were once in poor condition (see swearing section of Glossary), others don’t like them because they think the painting on them looks fake or not perfect, others don’t like them as they think they’re display case due to being more unique than others, but the UTH & many others understand that many, if not all, are needed to fill gaps in the Ponyworld, like a G1 teacher for the G3 Scooter class, or the G3 Boys, or those featured in films but not or wrongly Made by Hasbro, or the Rocking Beat & Dance & Prance Pegasi, or the Brush & Grow or Flower Pony Unicorns, to give some examples. Custom Ponies often experience prejudice & victimisation from other Ponies, especially female Customs with no theme. Pinkie Pie used to hate them venomously, until she found out one eventful day that Customisation is one of the Human’s major weapons against Shifting (above), which plagues her a lot (see The Meadowbrook’s Incident story). Most of the intelligent & more compassionate Ponies realise that Customisation is a second chance for a Pony who has suffered in life, & in the case of the G2 & G3 Customs, probably the only welcome Shift they’ve ever had. As Customs are becoming an ever-growing part of the Ponyworld, more Ponies must learn to accept them, especially for romantic purposes as the majority of males are Customs.
Ponyworld Government:- Apart from the Royal Ponies, who are more representatives of the Government that actual law-makers, Ponyworld is mostly run by the results of weekly Council meetings. These meetings are attended by one of every type of Pony living in the Ponyworld, NOT meaning one G1, one G2, one G3 & one G4, but more three Early Earths, one Early or So Soft Unicorn, One Early or So Soft Pegasus, one So Soft Earth, one TE Earth, one TE Unicorn, one TE Pegasus, one TAF, one Romance, one Cookery, one Sweetheart Sister, one Sunshine, one Dance & Prance etc… & that’s just the G1s! Adult G3s are also Council members, as are adult Customs, & all Building Owners of those ages are members, except Teddi, who’s always far too busy at the Nurseries, but who summons the representative Magic Message over to ensure her opinions are aired. Anypony of G2 age & above is welcome to witness the Council meetings, & all of G3 age & above are allowed to submit an issue for discussion. The first stage of the Council meeting is to discuss anything put in place at the previous one & whether, or how, it’s worked. If it hasn’t, then the next solution is implemented. Secondly any issues unrelated to the first section are looked at & considered, with the most noted ones discussed first. Each issue discussion raises why the issue exists, considers everything that can be done to sort out the issue, then resolves to put a plan in action to do the most popular remedy. All other remedies are noted down, in case the first one fails, so that the second, third, fourth etc can be used. Butterscotch, as Head Pony, Majesty, as Queen Pony, Mirror-Mirror, as Pony at the reins of the magic mirror, & Princess Diamond, as heir to the Ponyworld throne, take it in turns to take the reins of each meeting. Ponyworld Government usually owns any public Buildings (usually unoccupied or occupied by Babies or G2s in Hasbronia) as covered in the Residents’ List. Butterscotch is responsible for the deeds to these Buildings. All the Royal Ponies, along with Butterscotch, Mirror-Mirror & Bobby, are also responsible for upholding law & order in Ponyworld. As Ponyworld has no solicitors, trials include the Pony accused getting the chance to speak for herself, & often use the magic mirror to find out all the circumstances leading to an event. The Royal Ponies don’t want to step in too often, or they could be seen as interfering, which can spark unrest. So they now hold back until it’s absolutely essential for them to step in. Now with Bobby here, he can relay the details of any event he’s been needed at, & whether it requires further intervention.
Ponyworld History:- Ponyworld functions on two things more than anything else: belief from Humans & growth of population. When Ponies first existed there were only a few, & the Human reaction was confusion, as They’d never come across something like this before. Our Human was the same with Butterscotch. But as their population began to grow, more Humans discovered They liked Ponies, & also the films, books & comics helped too, & so the Ponyworld thrived. Our Human became bored with Sindy, as She discovered there were only so many you could actually get, so She turned to Ponies as there were more all the time. Many Ponies came together in harmony, never disagreeing, & using their different abilities & Ponyalities for the good of Ponyworld. By the time She was 22, our Human had roughly 100 Ponies, & several Friends, who all lived together in the big Sindy House, the Bonnet School, the Grooming Parlour & the Show Stable. Then came 1996. Human belief in Ponies was at an all-time low, as only one place had produced any Ponies the previous year: Holland. Also that year was the one year in all Hasbronian history that NO PONIES WHATSOEVER were produced anywhere! On top of this Customisation hadn’t been born anywhere, plus the particular Human in charge of our Ponyworld went through a hard time in 1996-7. So unrest began in Ponyworld. The Royal Ponies, ever the custodians of law & order, had been interfering too much in the freedoms of the others, & one group, led by the Twinkle Eyes, decided to do battle against them. Everypony had to pick a side, or suffer in the crossfire. The Mountain Boys sided with the Royals, the Adventure Boys & Big Brothers with the Twinkle Eyes, & the TAFs found themselves arguing with each other until they decided it was best if each picked her own side, which meant their type was split. The Special Winged tried to keep the peace, & treat the injured, but many lost their wings. Ponies can’t die, except by Dogs, harsh chemicals or fire, but the Revolution of 1996, as it came to be known, worsened the condition of many! Several had their manes hacked, some Royals lost their jewels, others gained disorders with their bodies & hair that had never been heard of before, & have since metamorphosed into swear words (see Glossary). After that it took a long time for the Ponies to recover, & not as many Humans believed in the old G1s or the new G2s as had believed in the G1s when they were new. In fact the G2s often had to fight for acceptance, which caused many of them some serious damage; as most Ponies & Humans didn’t understand what one Human at Quacker County knew all too well: their age, & the resultant awkward appearance & hairy hooves on them all. But then came two things. First was 2000, & the revolution of the Internet. During the 1990s, Internet was something only the richest Humans & Ponies had, or used only by colleges & universities as a research tool. In the dawn of the new Millennium though, Internet became more affordable for both Humans & Ponies, with more computers entering households & more websites going online, including some made by the few who’d neither lost their belief in Ponies nor had ever had it taken from them. And as other Humans of varying ages searched for Their Childhood memories, They found these sites, & discovered that Their dream collections of Ponies weren’t the only ones in the world, as each country had its own unique members. EBay was also established to assist Humans in getting Their dreams back. As a result of all this, Human belief in Ponies surged, & in Adult Humans as well as Children! The second thing to happen, mainly as a result of the resurgence of belief getting to Hasbro, was 2003: the dawn of the G3 Pony age. In spite of their faults (too many pink ones, rumpmarks on only one side, & several re-used names), the one thing that mattered most was that once more, Pony population was growing. The next thing that happened was more a gradual process, but it still happened & still had a positive effect. Several Humans had Ponies of such a poor condition that They had to upgrade them, but what to do with the downgrade??? Some of the most artistic & experimental among Them decided that the answer was Customisation, & so more new Ponies were being born, out of belief from Humans combined with artistic skill & a few simple materials. Ponies had never known their own kind being born out of Belief before! Those Customised as adults were known as Made from then on. In 2005 our own beloved Human found Ponies on eBay & began to get back Her herd of us, along with a good few friends the UTH had picked up along the way. At around the same time She got Daisyjo & a couple of other G3s, plus a decent condition Sunny Bunch MGR, from shops around Her. It turned out She was going through another low period of Her life & just wanted to build Her dreams again, & Ponies were one of Her dreams. And so Ponyworld was re-established. Its basis was built rapidly, increasing from, as Daisyjo says, “a few Ponies sitting on a shelf” to over 300 Ponies (356 G1s & 10 G1 Buildings, not sure about G2s & G3s, but we definitely also had them, yep we went crazy lol), plus some Friends & Buildings & accessories, in a year or so, then it slowed to a steady 5-6 Ponies & Friends a month (around 40-50 G1 Ponies per year for 2006, 2007 & 2008, also completing the UTH & the G1 Buildings), as the Human rediscovered Her other dream: hardcore techno. Another 2 years down the line & the arrival rate had slowed to 2-3 per month (more like 20-30 G1 Ponies a year from 2009-2011, then 14 G1 Ponies in 2012, as there are only a few to go), as the Ponies still to arrive were harder to obtain, so what to do? Then it struck the Human: get poorly-conditioned Ponies, particularly males, & Customise them! So the first of our Customs doubled the arrival rate (around 40 Customs per year from 2008-2011 inclusive, 2012 had 20)! And our biggest series of Customs: the DJ Ponies, began to be Made. The DJs the Ponies were based on generally loved their Pony versions! We have made a file of our photos of all the DJ Ponies with their DJs, & we also have some photos of other Customs meeting their equivalent Humans in the Pony Fun Pages. And the Human’s G1 Mascot, Twisters, went with Her to the parties to meet many of them (a file of the photos has recently been made), & since 2007 Starcatcher the Backpack accompanied them as they headed for the parties, danced with the other Humans & introduced each DJ Pony to his DJ. By the end of 2010 we were a fully integrated Pony community, with a city, 2 towns & an island holiday resort, as well as other lands for our Friends & the Doll-People. Then came Friendship Is Magic in 2011. First it was the TV show, then it was the Ponies. Tiny Ponies, about the size of G1 Juniors, & almost all with re-used names, but with equal proportions of Earth, Pegasus & Unicorn Ponies, with even a Pegacorn or two, began over the next years to arrive along with the rarer G1s & G2s, & the remainder of the G3s, as well as the Customs being Made. The G4s are still proving harder to integrate into Ponyworld than the others, mainly due to their size being incompatible with their behaviour, but we keep trying to this day. The main issues in Ponyworld are caused by the way some of the arrivals were treated in former Ponyworlds, either being given special treatments, or abused, or simply seen as ornaments to be displayed, hence the phrase “display case”, meaning a snobbish Pony, see Glossary. All of them arrive here with their own problems that prevent them integrating properly into Ponyworld, so our main priority is to provide ways to help do this. And by Hasbronia, we will, with the help of our Human! References to G1 rates of collection (in brackets) are from reference to the eBay Pony Files, which cover G1 Ponies & Buildings, & what dates they were bought by our Human. References to Custom rates are deduced from the Custom Database, which includes the year each was Made.
Mascots:- The first Mascot to be picked was of course the G1 Mascot Twisters, or UK Twisty Tail. Twisters is one of two versions of Twisty Tail Made by Hasbro, & is the version who was not only available in the UK, but also most of Europe. Her sister, Princess Twisty, is the version who was Made for the States. Twisters was picked as the obvious choice because she’s bright blue, & the Human’s favourite colour is royal blue, & has very long hair, & the Human wants Her hair down to Her waist, which is very long on Humans. Twisters represents how the Human is with Ponies: She likes to brush & style our hair, & prefers the brighter-coloured ones. Interesting facts about Twisters: the streaks in her hair are, in Dollyhair colours: Firebird (red-orange), Virgin Snow (white, NOT fading pink like some Pony websites claim), Envy (bright green), & Yellow Fever (vivid yellow), & all but the white glow under UV light! Twisters is the ONLY UTH Brush & Grow Pony here, being first brought to the Ponyworld brand new in 1988. We’d love her green shooting star clip & her yellow hearts clip. Twisters has now been Customised in G2, G3, & G1 Baby (First Tooth), & is soon to be Made in Chibi & G4. Second in the list of Mascots is the G3 Mascot Starcatcher, for the simple reason that Starcatcher the Backpack became our Human’s raving bag as soon as She got her! Starcatcher was not only Made in Plush Backpack though, but also as a big decorating Starcatcher you used ice pens on, as well as two normal-sized G3 Pegasi & an Australian clip-on Plush (wanted). The first of the normal-sized Starcatchers has iridescent blue fabric wings, & came with a video: Dancing With the Clouds, but of course our Human has no video player, so has managed to purchase a DVD of the film instead. The second came later, in 2007, as one of the Favourite Friends, which were all re-releases of earlier Ponies with twists. Starcatcher is white, & represents the Human’s dreamy nature, as well as Her longing to fly. Her hair colours are, in Dollyhair shades, streaked with pink tinsel in the first normal-sized one: Pussycat (that fading pink), Virgin Snow (white), & Water Nixie (a true light blue), in alternating stripes like most G3s of multi-coloured hair. We have Customised her in G1, G2, Chibi, & Newborn Cutie, & will soon do so in G4. Our third Mascot is the Custom Mascot, Technopony. Technopony has been in the Human’s head for a long time before she was actually Customised (only as a G1 adult so far). She has lightsticks & whistles all over her like a TAF Party Pony, is neon yellow in colour, & has Pussycat, Water Nixie & Black Magick Dollyhair shades in alternating G3-like stripes through her mane, & all three colours in her tail. Closest to the Human in terms of Ponyality, she represents the Human’s love of hardcore. Technopony’s markings were originally to consist of every hardcore record label logo from past & present, but the Human decided against & instead used Her two favourite raving accessories for Technopony’s markings. Mascot number four is the G2 Mascot: Trixiebelle. To our knowledge there is only one Hasbronian Trixiebelle in existence, who came with a wand & a jester’s hat. Trixiebelle, yellow with Heartthrob Pink hair threaded with silver tinsel, represents how the Human’s friends see Her: as somebody Who always cheers them up! We have Customised Trixiebelle as a G1, a G3, a Chibi, & a G4. We also hope to Customise her as a G2 baby. Last on the Mascot list is the G4 Mascot: Twilight Sparkle. The ONLY main FIM character with her own name, Twilight Sparkle fits in perfectly with our Mascot brigade, not only providing the unicorn of the group, but also the studious bookworm, representing the Human’s intelligence & love of books. She’s partway between mauve, magenta & maroon, with Sour Grapes Purple & Heartthrob Pink hair, kind of alternated through her mane. There are many versions of her available, with more to come we’re sure. We currently have the first, the light-up, Royal Friend, Glimmer Wings, Crystal Castle, Rainbow Princess, Neon Princess, plain Princess, charm Princess, TAF Princess, the Claire’s Accessory clip-on, another clip-on, 2 TY Plushies, Storyteller Plushie, light-up Plushie, a Tesco Plushie, Backpack Plushie, the Princess fashion style & the first fashion style; & we’ve Customised her in G1, G2, G3 & Chibi. We’re looking for the books to go with the Storyteller & we’d also like her G4 Baby sister: Star Dreams.
Currency & Finance:- Doll People use Dolly Dollars, which resemble most dollars in circulation, being split into 100 cents for smaller amounts. Whereas Ponyworld currency, used in Clopton & the surrounding areas, is the Horseshoe. There are eight Nails to a Horseshoe, & ten Bits to a Nail, which is a bit more confusing to those who are used to decimal everything, but it can be accommodated rather easily. Current conversion rates are 1.3 Dolly Dollars to a Horseshoe, & exchanging areas are found in all branches of the Ponyworld Bank, the Doll-Land Bank, the border between Clopton & Doll Land, & at Clopton Airport. Jangles & suchlike from other currencied Ponyworlds are also exchanged, but as conversion rates vary daily, there’s no point placing them here. It’s best to keep your eye on Human stock exchanges. Rental tax is the main tax in Ponyworld, & is payable with all rents. Landlords like Daisy Sweet are expected to pay not only the rental tax they receive from their tenants, but also their own tax. For new arrivals & those in the Daisy Sweet apartments, the level is set at 5% of the full rent. For the more affluent the tax is greater, up to a maximum of 20% for the most affluent in Paradise Estates. The tax goes to Dream Castle to look after it, to the Recycling Centre to enable it to carry out its work, & to the running of all public & government-owned properties, like roads & the Ponyworld Schools. Tax may not be enjoyable anywhere, but it is needed, & in Ponyworld it all goes to good use, & ensures all tours of Dream Castle & so on to visitors remain free. For short-term visitors, like tourists, a one off tax of ten Horseshoes is payable on arrival, which covers all the visits & contributes to Ponyworld economy. If you’re coming for a longer time, Ponyworld Visas are available in your own Toylands, at appropriate outlets, or at Clopton Airport. The Doll People have no rental tax, or visitor tax, but they do have a sales tax, fixed at 6% of all prices of everything except essential food, which excludes fizzy drinks & sweets, & basic hygiene products, which includes female protection products; which basically means, the more luxury products you can afford, the more tax you pay. It also goes into the upkeep of public facilities, like the Doll Schools & the roads, as well as the public lavatories. Both Ponyworld & Doll Land agree nobody should be charged for needing to relieve oneself, EVER!!! And water, & in Ponyworld, grazing on designated feeding grass, is also covered by tax, & therefore not charged any other way, as access to these is also seen as a basic right. So a broke Pony can eat grass, drink water & use the closet without any worry.
Renaming:- Not only the Mascots need new names so as not to get confused with each other, but in many cases the same names are used for Ponies from many Generations & Types. To give one example, Morning Glory was given to: a Flutter Pony, a Birthflower Pony (with September, we always include the month in the Birthflower Ponies’ names), a Dream Beauty, a G2, & a G3. The inclusion of the month in the Birthflower’s name avoids that confusion, while the G2 & the G3 have been given names appropriate to their rumpmarks. Morning Glory G2 has flowers on hers, so she’s renamed Morningflower; while Morning Glory G3 has a singing bird as her rumpmark, so has been renamed Morningsong. We don’t yet have the Dream Beauty here, but when she arrives we’ll sort her renaming out according to what suits her. As the G4s continue arriving, many of them have names already used by other Ponies as well, & of course we have to give names to those unimaginatively called Baby this or Mummy that, where this is the name of the parent Pony, & that is the name of a whole Family. The whole bottom section of the Glossary is dedicated to the renaming of Ponies whose names are duplicated, covering all but the Sea Ponies. Unless otherwise stated, the adult Sea Pony has her name as one word, while the baby Sea Pony has hers as two words. This system is also used for the two Yumyums, the two Chachas, the two Skydancers, the two Skyrockets & the two Brighteyeses, with the specifications of each outlined in the Glossary. Note also that in some cases the US names are used (Pina Colada), in others it’s the UK names (Sweetie, Rainbow Magic), & in the case of Flocky, it’s a slight twist on her German name of Flocki. Speckles is a cool name, but we HATE Bunkie, & the name Fluffy is so cute!!! But we can’t have two Fleecys, so Flocky is the newborn twin. In the case of alternate names, all Princesses with jewelled rumpmarks have an alternate name, as do the Jewel Babies. With the exception of Tug, whose alternate name is given to his Baby Sea Pony daughter, the Adventure Boy Brothers with alternate names have been given their own Reverse Brothers to use the names up, see the Customs Pages. We also try not to pick names used by Friends as replacement names for the Ponies, & of course our Bratz Ponies & our NHPs don’t get any names at all (although apparently the Bratz Ponies are named, we’ve yet to discover their identities)!!! Regarding Doll-People, apart from ensuring nopony is ever called Megan or Molly, we aren’t particularly bothered there.
Time:- You would think a day in the life of a Pony is equivalent to a day in our lives, but you’d be wrong. For a day to pass in Ponyworld, a week must pass in the Human world. The reason for this is the heavy reliance in Ponyworld, like in all other Ponyworlds, on Human belief in Ponies, & due to the lives Humans lead, this can be held back by a large number of things, the main ones of which are mentioned here:-
1/ School/ College/ Work. When Humans are under the orders of another Human, & taken out of Their homes, or otherwise focussed on earning money, They obviously do not have Ponies at the top of their heads. During such times, even Humans with the strongest belief put Ponies to the backs of Their minds, so They can learn more/ do better.
2/ Errands/ Chores/ Parental orders. Even Adult Humans Who don’t have jobs need to go Outside, make phone calls, pay bills, buy food, fix the house & so on. During such times, Ponies are maybe on Their minds, but only in regards to acquiring them, not to believing in them, therefore this also has a huge effect. After all, no Human thinks of Ponies when looking at the leaky skylight!!! On top of this, Child Humans are at the mercy of their parents regarding how they allocate their time, & just as this amount is asked for to do homework, this amount is needed to help round the house, & you can only spend that much time with the TV/ console/ computer/ phone, so time with Ponies is also restricted in the same manner, plus half the Parents don’t understand or believe, while the other half realise there are other things in life, & realise the need for balance in a Child’s life.
3/ Time with Non-Pony loving friends/ lover. Not every Human believes in Ponies. This is a universally known fact, accepted by both Ponies & Pony-Loving Humans alike. But friends are made for a great deal of reasons, or sometimes even no reason at all! Sharing other interests, working or studying together, travelling on the same bus, living next door, or just randomly bumping into each other on the street. Just like among Ponies, the causes of Human friendships are incredibly diverse. And there are some times when a friend takes priority over everything else, besides, when your best friend is crying because of a betrayal, or when your partner wants to spend a little quality time wink nudge, neither one of you is thinking about Ponies, are you???
4/ Non-Pony interests. If Ponies were the only hobby a Human could have, the Human world would be a very boring place! Many Humans do crafts, listen to & support music, write non-Pony stories, poems & songs, read non-Pony books & watch non-Pony films & shows, or do sports or other things to occupy their time. In many cases, the non-Pony interests of a Human are reflected in Her, or His, favourite Pony, eg a sporty Human will love G1 Firefly, G2 Flash, G3 Scootaloo & G4 Rainbow Dash to give an example. But all hobbies require investment of time & thought, just like Ponies do to live, so when a Human is say cycling, She’s not exactly thinking of Ponies.
5/ Holidays, time off & travel. Whether the Human works or studies or not, She still needs a break from Her life, & though for Pony-loving Humans, Ponies are one of those breaks, sometimes, even that can be not enough for Humans, & an entire change of scene is required, whether it be a day’s walk in the forest, a weekend’s rest in another town, or a fortnight’s tour round a Mediterranean island or two. Either way, the practicalities of travel mean that entire Ponyworlds must stay at home, with only the favourites becoming the intrepid explorers & telling the rest about the world Outside. Sometimes, the Human even wants a break from Ponies!!!
6/ Fluctuations in Human belief. Even when all the other restrictions on Human time are accounted for, sometimes the fact a Human goes through different “phases” can affect Her, or His, belief in Ponies, so that sometimes a day in the affected Ponyworld can be as little as 3 Human days, & others it can be as long as a Human month! Usually Ponies closest to the Human try to figure out the Pony/ Human time ratio, as a regularly low one can prewarn Ponies of an ending of the current Ponyworld, & the need to find another. Generally, in these cases, Ponies prefer to travel in large groups, as the rapid influx of Ponies into a new Ponyworld has a positive effect on that world, & is also a direct symptom of a very strong, newly-kindled Human belief there. Rarer ones, or ones with a higher ransom (Human price of acquirement), don’t mind going alone so much, but still hope that the new Ponyworld will be a good place. Main causes in Human belief fluctuation are a) growing up/ out of Ponies, as many Humans believe Ponies are a toy, meant for Children; b) great emotional trauma in the Human, which often causes the Human to lose interest in everything She/ He once loved; c) major financial trouble/ expensive event, as to many Humans, Ponies are an investment they can sell on later, if say, they move house, get into debt, or need to fund a wedding; d) the discovery of a new toy/ hobby that takes over the life of the Human, thereby they replace their old hobby of Ponies with it; e) addiction of the Human to such an extent it leaves no room for anything else; & f) external circumstances like thievery of Ponies, a fire burning Ponies & so on. Fire, harsh chemicals & Dogs are the only things that can really kill Ponies; hence the word Dogfear, meaning extreme terror, & frequently the Human will have “well meaning” friends Who think that Ponies are daft & that this Human shouldn’t have a Ponyworld, therefore taking it upon Themselves to sort that blip out. The usual result is an instant falling out between the two Humans, with a desperate attempt by the Pony-lover to rebuild Her or His Ponyworld again. There may be other factors we haven’t covered here, but study of our Human, & others, have led us to these theories.
It is quite possible that things we haven’t covered here also affect Ponyworld time, but not so much as the ones we’ve mentioned here. You may wonder why we haven’t included Human sleep but I’m sure to most the answer is obvious: Ponies need to sleep too!!!
