Hmm, Leeds, eh? Didn't see that one coming, but it's a very accessible venue by rail, road and air. (And even water, if anyone feels like coming by canal barge!) It's quite a long way from me, but if there's one event that I'd be prepared to push things a bit for then it's UK PonyCon. I had a wonderful time at the con last year, and I would absolutely love to be back there this year. It's possible I might only be able to manage the Saturday this year, but frankly it's so much fun that I'd still come even if that were the case. Ideally, though, I'd like to do it properly and enjoy the full weekend experience!
Edit: and yes, fox attendance is definitely a must if at all possible!

I can go! Woohoo! Sad that it isn't in a hotel, as my first time in England, I was hoping to have it all contained so I had 'the experience' you know? We'll make it work though! I was hoping it was going to be near museums and things to keep hubby occupied, but this totally works, we can both go, and he can wander off if he gets sick of ponies (living with me he probably already is!), he like armouries and war things....
Excitedly awaiting Ponycon 2016... all the way from Australia!
Sadly I can't go because it's like 210 miles away!
That's only ten miles more tha it is for me
I'm really sorry you feel that way Cubey, but the simple fact is - no matter where the committee picks, some people are going to be inconvenienced by the location. It is impossible to please everybody, much though we'd like to.
I'ts nearly 300 miles fae me to Newcastle, & add the distance fae there to Leeds & that's how far it is for me, but hey ho, living in the backwaters of Scotland does that I suppose... Hence I'm a MIGHT rather than a WILL
If I could travel in a perfect straight line from my house to Leeds it would be 318 miles. But since I can't I'll just have to hop on a plane...
ha ha YES!!!!!
when I lived in Germany I didn't mind coming over for Ponycon too - it was (and still is) my annual main holiday AND highlight! yay! I love all our international members who come over to see us - and lots of you are regulars!!!! *gives all of you a big cheer*
*dusts off account* Will probably be coming over this year Hopefully I'll manage to snatch some decently priced tickets to Leeds Airport
You could also look at Manchester and Robin Hood (Doncaster/Sheffield) airports too. They aren't as close but they're both motorway runs if you were willing to hire a car/find a buddy to do that portion of the journey with.
Ooh, I'm definitely going to try and see if I can attend The weekend itself is the end of autumn break, so getting to England should be doable, now just to figure out how to get back! (and a budget... and a cosplay of course, luckily I did already get an offer for a place to stay, so yay for that!)
