Just in case anybody is interested, we had an email, I don't know anything more about it than what's below. If you wish to find out more, please contact them directly.
Call for Entries
Exhibition Title: Friendship is Magic
Exhibition dates: 9 July to 29 October 2016
Deadline for submissions: 20 April 2016
About: From their beginnings as a humble children’s toy, the world of My Little Pony has developed into an international phenomenon, spawning conventions, multi-series TV programmes and a major Hollywood movie. The culture that has developed encompasses fans of all ages, some who loved the toys as a youngster, and others that have discovered them as an adult. This exhibition will include MLP inspired Cosplay costumes, modified ponies, fan-art, illustration and much more.
What we’re looking for: Illustration, costumes, fan-art, modified ponies, MLP inspired photography, video, performance, digital art or sculpture. Really anything goes! (although as this exhibition takes place during our busy summer period, artwork should be appropriate for all ages).
Where: 20-21 Visual Arts Centre is a art gallery based in Scunthorpe. We host a wide variety of contemporary art and craft exhibitions. In recent years this has included Turner Prize winner Antony Gormley’s iconic Field for the British Isles and solo exhibitions by acclaimed Scottish artist Rachel Maclean and multi-million selling illustrator Nick Sharratt. Alongside our contemporary art exhibitions we have also produced exhibitions of artforms that are often underrepresented in public galleries, including tattoo art, custom cars, comic art and cosplay.
What we need from you: Please send up to 3 good quality images of work you wish to include (or a description of something you want to include along with images of past work). We also need your contact details (including email and postal address) and some information about yourself (for example if you an artist an artist’s biography and cv). Any web-links to your work online would also be helpful.
How to apply: Please email to dominic.mason@northlincs.gov.uk or post to 20-21 Visual Arts centre, Church Square, Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire DN15 6TB to arrive no later than Wednesday 20 April.
What we provide: Where possible 20-21 aims to cover the costs of artists exhibiting existing works in group exhibitions (for example delivery and return of artworks). In some cases we may be able to arrange printing and mounting of photographic or digital artworks, or provide small amounts of funding to allow the creation of new work. All work and items are insured whilst in our care.
Many thanks
