Morning all!
With PonyCon 2017 less than two weeks away (!), the committee just wanted to tell you a little bit about all the things you'll be able to do with your money whilst you are there
Show me the bits! Paying for things at PonyCon and the Grand Charity Auction
As usual, UK PonyCon will be having plenty of stalls (50!) for you to buy all sorts of My Little Pony merchandise, as well as other cool things including of course exclusive UK PonyCon products. Here's a sneak peak at the 2017 exclusive lanyard...

As with many conventions, cash will be king and it is suggested to bring your spending money with you (in safe amounts of course!). There is no ATM in the venue, and unfortunately we wasn't able to arrange for a temporary one on site. There are a couple of ATM on the UWE campus a five to ten minute walk away, and some at the nearby shopping park and supermarket a ten to fifteen minute walk away.
This year, our merch stall will be accepting cards and contactless payments (International visitors please note that we will only be accepting cards with contactless technology or chip and pin). Some of the other vendors will also be taking card payments. However, like anything technical, it could go wrong so best not to rely solely on card purchases as it will be dependant on the wifi or mobile signals outside of our control.
Unfortunately, the raffles and things in a jar will be cash only (Legal restrictions, sorry!).
Please also remember that the “old” £1 will no longer be legal tender by the time UKPonyCon comes around. Both the new £10 note and the old £10 will still be in use.
On the Sunday afternoon, we will also be running our annual Grand Charity Auction in aid of our charity, the RDA. If you wish to bid, you will be able to pick up a numbered auction card before the auction, which will help our auctioneers spot you. You can then pay either during the auction or afterwards.
We will of course accepting bids from people without cards, but you will need to pay for your purchase right away and might miss out on bidding on other items.
Payment will be accepted as follows, based on the total to be paid eg either the item total, or the total of multiple items being paid for:
For amounts under £100, we will be accepting cash only
For amount over £100, you can pay by cash or by card via PayPal invoices (please note that paying by card/PayPal will take some time to organise, so won’t be suitable for people entering the Sunday cosplay contest)
For payments by card, you will need to provide an email for the invoice to be sent to, and additionally give your real name (matching your ID) and sign to confirm receipt of the items.
We also also are still on the hunt for awesome donations for the Charity Auction. So if you want to donate Interesting, unusual or rare things from any generation, any quality donation which will help raise money for a worthy cause, please see the details here: ponyconvention.proboards.com/thread/13669/uk-ponycon-2017-charity-auction
