ok here goes last chance to not read!!!
I have never ranted about a movie before but I so love this trilogy and I was so disappointed
aghhhhhhhhh I was so looking forward to this movie, I had pre booked VIP seats weeks ago to the preview showing and everything, and all the way through the movie all I could think was.. but it wasn't him that did that or where did that big chunk of the story go missing to.
Most annoying .....the explanation of dust right at the start, one of the best parts for me was learning/exploring what dust was along with Lyra as the story unfolded. To just Have it narrated( in an annoying voice at that) right at the start was a huge disappointment.
And why the need to change the sequence of events with bolvagner and Iorek.
They seemed to leave out the smaller events which although do not always seem to be missed/important in the first book, are needed to help explain things in the later ones!! ie lyra picking the pine branch at the witches consul resulting in the witches "eve prophesy"- which is gone into in more detail later in the story.
I know some things need changing to make it more cinematic but it seems like too much has been changed or removed, in my opinion anyway- as I love this book so much I may have too high of a standard and no matter how it was made it wouldn't have been good enough. (My husband also had the same opinion as me and he is not as big a fan of the book)
It is probably much better to watch if you have never read the book, although it may be a little confusing- It was hard for me to try and look at in this light as however much I tried pushing the thoughts to the back of my mind I just could not stop wanting to yell(not literally - I wouldn't want everyone staring at me lol) "but that's not who should be doing that!!!" hahah
Ok I feel like I'm being tooo negative. On the plus side..
The CGI bears were amazing, I loved Iorek
The main characters looked like I thought they would/should
(except the golden monkey-I think he should look exactly like a golden tamarin)
The world( lyras world) was amazing/looked spot onto how I imagined it
Ok rant over lol
