Right guys, with Ponycon 2012 over and done with, the committee are already looking forward to 2013.
Now in the past what has happened is, after every con, we hold elections almost for a new committee, however this does tend to slow things down and delays planning the con as people settle into roles and such, and with 2013 being a big con (Ponycon's 10th and MLP's 30th birthdays) we've decided to run things a tiny bit diferent.
A lot of this years committee were happy to stay in their roles and continue to work on Ponycon. However we still have roles that need to be filled as we want Ponycon 2013 to have more staff so we can make it even better.
A lot of people in the past have expressed a desire to be on the committee but worry that they don't have the spare time needed to help run the convention, that is why this year, on the list of roles, we've tried to make some smaller roles. These roles will take away some of the jobs from people like our Events and Fundraising guys to help them focus more on their areas. Of course all the jobs are important and we need people that will take their role seriously, but these ones are a little easier lol.
Ok, onwards with the roles. This year, as I've said, we have major roles and minor roles. All candidates will be required to PM me (Archer) with a brief CV outlining why you want the role. In some cases we may need to ask for feedback (ebay, arena etc) and in certain cases, such as roles involving money, we may ask for further contact details. We will be taking applicants until the Friday the 23rd of November with an aim to have the whole committee sorted by christmas. As I have said, some roles have been taken by staff still on the committee, those roles will still be listed, but have obviously already been sorted. Roles that are up for grabs will be the ones with no name besides it.
Major roles:
Chair - Archer
Treasurer[/color]
Events x 2 - Reaperfox and Missiechan
Fundraising - MLPLaura
Art, merchandise and webdesign - Haze
Minor roles:
Twitter Editor and Facebook editor - Jemofirongate
Arena/Trading/UKofE/EqD Post Editor -
Art Assistant -
Fundraising Support -
Events Support -
Ok then, here are a brief breakdown of the roles that are available:
Treasurer - A pivitol role in the committee, you'll be responsible for handling the money raised by fundraising, sorting out a breakdown of costs for each area on the committee and organising ticket and stall sales when the time is right.
Arena/Trading/UKofE/EqD Post Editor - A poster on major pony boards, you'll be responsible or spreading the word about Ponycon amongst the forums and Equestria Daily. Whether it's announcing ticket sales or contests, you'll be the 'mane' face of Ponycon that other pony fans will see.
Art Assistant - You'll be workign directly under Haze to help out with all arty aspects of the con from webdesign and the forum, to merchandise and the conbook.
Fundraising Support - Working directly under MLPLaura, you'll help her to source out prizes and run events and contests in the lead up to the con.
Events Support - We want ponycon 2013 to be EPIC!!!! Therefore you'll be working under both Reaperfox and Missiechan to come up with panels, contests and events for the main convention days. You'll need to be creative and have a solid knowldge of all things pony to ensure that the events cater to all pony fans
Right, with that said, anyone interested please PM me a little CV stating why you think you'd be best for the role. People from all corners of the fandom are welcome, all that we ask is that you're regularly online and can devote a little of your time towards Ponycon
I promise you, we're a friendly bunch and don't bite
After the closing date for applicants the current committee will decide who is best where and in what role. In the event that we just can't decide or we have recieved a large amount of promising people, we may put it to a public vote on the forum.
Just remember guys, you just have to love ponies and want to help out
We really want Ponycon 2013 to be amazing and to be the biggest and best yet which is why we are more than welcoming of new people who will bring with them new ideas
If you'd like to help out on Ponycon 2013 but don't think you fit in any of the roles above, don't let it discourage you from applying. We NEVER turn down offers to help lol and I'm sure we can find you a role that will fit you and help us out too ^_^
Good Luck everyone
