Committee Applications!!
Sadly we will be losing some of our beloved committee this year BUT this gives YOU the opportunity to join the committee and be part of PonyCon!
UK PonyCon will recruit six temporary staff this year for the 2017 committee.
How do I apply?....... please read carefully now! (pkw will know if you have not)
UK PonyCon will recruit a number of temporary staff to serve for 1 year (from December 2016-November 2017). These staff will be recruited for specific roles that may change from year to year. Roles will be advertised describing the responsibilities and the required attributes for the job.
Anyone can apply to be a member of temporary staff and staff selections will be made by the Committee Staff.
Prospective Candidates should submit a short CV and personal statement describing why they believe they are able to fulfil the role.
Prospective Committee members must be over 18 years of age, have no unspent criminal convictions (excluding traffic offences), and must have attended at least one UK PonyCon. Prospective Committee members may be required to provide character references. In the interests of flexibility people will be selected based on the range of their skills and experience, their reliability and level of commitment to PonyCon. This means you may be given the job we feel you would be most suited to and this might not be the role you apply for.
Applicants may apply for one position only.

Operations Assistant
You will be a full committee member working closely with the treasurer and chair. Duties will be varied and will include, but won’t be limited to:
Managing the webstore
Planning front desk entry
Monitoring ticket sales
Liaising with the venue and vendors
This role will involve handling some finances – you don’t need to be a math's genius but you must be able to count and willing to check your work!
This Operations Assistant will be busy throughout the convention year and on the weekend itself.
You will be asked to assist at PonyCon with more general roles too, such as helping to set up, sell merchandise or raffle tickets, run easy events and maybe more.
We ask you to be online regularly - best daily - to check in on the forum/committee room and take part in discussions there.
You also will be asked to respond to emails in our PonyCon email account (not daily, but on a regular base too).
Events Assistant
As Events Assistant, you will be a full member of the UK PonyCon committee and you will assist the Chair/Events-Coordinator with the following:
Run events on the day
Think of new and exciting events for us
Organise everything that is needed for running our events
Prepare requirements for volunteers and equipment
Help communicate our events beforehand online
Write descriptions of events/games
Organise Panels and look after our panellists
This job is very busy on the day! So be prepared you will spend a lot of your time running around like Chicken Pinkie Pie!
We ask you to be online regularly - best daily - to check in on the forum/committee room and take part in discussions there.
You also will be asked to respond to emails in our PonyCon email account (not daily, but on a regular base too).
Art Assistant
As Art Assistant, you will be a full member of the UK PonyCon committee and will help us to make your favourite convention look pretty!
You will assist the Art-Coordinator with one or more of the following:
Website Maintenance
Forum Skin Design
Pretty-Ups for our announcements (forum, FB, Twitter, website)
Designing merchandise (Posters, Shirts, etc.)
Putting our Con-Book together
Your job is very busy in the run up to the convention and quieter on the day - which means you will be asked to assist with more general roles too, such as helping to set up, sell merchandise or raffle tickets, run easy events and maybe more.

The Arts Co-Ordinator must be able to work under pressure and to a strict deadline in order meet printing and publishing timetables.
Your job is very busy in the run up to the convention and quieter on the day - which means you will be asked to assist with more general roles too, such as helping to set up, sell merchandise or raffle tickets, run easy events and maybe more.
We ask you to be online regularly - best daily - to check in on the forum/committee room and take part in discussions there.
You also will be asked to respond to emails in our PonyCon email account (not daily, but on a regular base too).

As Staff Co-Ordinator, you will be a full time committee member.
This position involves working to find people to volunteer at PonyCon for the duration of the event. As such, this position involves time in the run up to PonyCon, and at the event itself.
You job includes reviewing volunteer applications from people sent via the forum, email and social media. Nearer the time of PonyCon, you will need to review the events timetable and make sure that each event is well staffed with volunteers. Over the PonyCon weekend you will be very busy making such every volunteer knows where they need to be and when.
We ask you to be online regularly - best daily - to check in on the forum/committee room and take part in discussions there.
You also will be asked to respond to emails in our PonyCon email account (not daily, but on a regular base too).
Communications
You will be responsible for ensuring that the world knows about PonyCon, via the following interfaces, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and various MLP forums.
You’ll liaise mostly with the committee to put the word out about events we have running, but also with treasurer and chair to announce ticket sales and any other announcements we make. You’ll need to write in a manner suitable to the audience so some posts will need to be adjusted depending on where you post them (eg. On the MLParena you might want to put more focus on events that will appeal to collectors but then on UKofE alter it so the focus is on the G4 stuff) You’ll also need to keep up-to-date with ticket sales for raffles etc. and update posts with numbers accordingly (people like to see that their payment has gone through ok and will check the posts to see if their numbers have been added)

The role of the Treasurer is to look after the PonyCon money - this includes everything from ticket sales to competitions, eBay payments and expenses. You do not need to be a maths genius but you must be able to count, add up and willing to double check your work. Previous experience in accounting or booking keeping would be a great advantage in this role.
The job involves writing a budget, checking PayPal and bank payments, paying in cheques and updating spreadsheets in Excel. You will need to keep track of all payments sent out and received, log all receipts and ensure that all payments are made in time.
You will work closely with other committee members, especially the Chairperson keeping them up to date with the budget. You will also be dealing with enquiries from the general public and so need to be aware of other areas of committee activity, such as what competitions are running when. You will be particularly busy around July, when the tickets go on sale, and also in the month leading up the convention. You will be asked to assist at PonyCon with more general roles too, such as helping to set up, sell merchandise or raffle tickets, run easy events and maybe more.
