I am very happy to have joined this forum. I have a daughter aged 13, who is a major MLP fan. She has been so for 3 years now so it doesn't seem to be a phase she is going through
She has drawn me into it, I am not a huge fan yet but I know a lot about those ponies and we talk about it a lot. None of her friends like MLP, they accept her for having that interest but they don't get it.
So I thought .. are there anyone in this forum around her age - or any mums who have a daughter her age that are into MLP as well? My daughter is very good at English and loves to speak and write it and she would love to meet MLP fans from UK. I myself would like to get to know someone in UK.
So ... wouldn't it be nice to have Danish friends? :-)
Apart from that, I am in this forum because I hope to attend PonyCon 2018. I didn't know about it till recently - I am getting my daughter a trip to England soon and what better surprise than letting her participate in PonyCon. I can't imagine how happy she would be
Hi Anna, it would be lovely to meet you and your daughter at PonyCon this year!!!! I have two daughters but they are only little still - 6 and 1.5! My older one absolutely loves PonyCon - and she isn't even into ponies that much (sadly). Oh the old story again, Sparkler I hear everyone say... ;-) There are lots of kids at PonyCon - all ages. I am not sure however if we have any active members on here with kids around that age.
I hope you can make a lovely trip to the UK out of a visit to UK PonyCon - I remember I was very excited for my very first UK PonyCon too!
Sadly, I am in the same position as sparkler, in that my girls are a bit young - 6 and 2.
I can think of a couple of people who might come to the con who have children who are about the right age, but obviously I can't say for sure that they will be there. Hopefully they will come along though!
It's good that your daughter's friends accept her love of ponies. When I was 13 I loved ponies, but I wouldn't have dared to let my schoolfriends know. One of them came round to my house, saw the ponies, laughed a lot and then told some other friends, who all thought I was just a silly kid after that, I kept it a secret for a very long time. I still collected them but I packed them all away. Oddly enough, my (much smaller) collection of Sindy dolls didn't get treted the same way, maybe they were more acceptable for some reason.
Thank you for your answers, nice to hear from you :-)
It is very nice of you to reply - I was hoping to find someone with children a bit older, since my daughter has three younger cousins that like MLP but it is just not the same as finding someone her own age. She has a different approach to it all. Maybe there aren't that many teens around who love MLP?
Maybe it is younger children and then later on, mostly grown-ups?
Like you, daisyd, my daughter was afraid her school friends found out, but now she doesn't care. I am really proud of her for insisting on that interest, even though it is very uncool in the eyes of others. Her whole room is packed with ponies in all colours and 4 castles :-D
I was not really just thinking that my daughter could meet up with someone at PonyCon, I was thinking maybe my daughter could get to know MLP fans in here that she could write to/chat with - get some friends around her age that love MLP :)So if anyone knows a girl around 13 who is a big fan of MLP and would like a Danish friend, you are very welcome to contact me. My daughter is a bit introvert, but she has good humour and speaks and writes almost fluent English
