Ok so it's a little more than that...
The email below is the tue tale of what happened to my friend this week
If anyone has had a similar experience or knows of a company who can deal with this kinda stuff could you PLEASE get in touch.
Also feel free to show this to people who might know something.
Hi all,
As some of you know this week we were having some work done on our
cellar. Unfortunately the company we hired were incompetant and have
done severe damage to our house, they basically dug too far down, and
did it all in one go, rather than in sections, this resulted in them
undermining all the walls of the cellar, and the internal wall
subsequently collapsed. This resulted in our house being structurely
unstabled, and a structural engineer, that we called out, deemed the
house unsafe for us to remain in.
We're trying to find a building contractor who is capable and willing to
fix the problems. The biggest issue is one of safety as the cellar needs
to be cleared in order to put up shoring to brace the walls, but in
order to clear the site the walls need to be safe!
We're been advised that we need to find a company that has experience in
shoring up unsafe structures (such as companies with mining or
demolition experience), and we're meeting with a couple of companies
tomorrow, obviously the longer the house is unsafe, the more chance of
further collapse.. So if you know of any companies or know someone that
might know someone then please let us know (slim chance I know, but it's
worth asking).
We're currently staying at Crystals parents in Stone, with a few things
we grabbed before leaving, and neither of us are at work at the moment,
while we try to sort this out.
Umm.. That's basically it for the moment, myself, Crystal and Kayfa are
all okay (and none of the labours were hurt in the collapse), and that's
the main thing I guess, hopefully we'll find someone that can sort this
mess out, before anything worse happens to the house.
Please forward this email on to friends we've missed off the list, as
we've had to guess/remember peoples emails as I don't have them all on
the laptop (and sorry for the duplicates, again guessing emails). And
I'll try and keep you upto date as things progress.
Cheers,
Ade, Crystal and Kayfa.
