Hey guys!
I'm Satin, also known as "Gothy" (or "El" when I'm being told off..), and I'm very excited to be here and to be attending PonyCon this year. I've only been to one other convention so I'm vibrating with happy and counting the days.
I'm a seamstress, plush maker and embroidery machinist - my day job is creating and machining my embroidery designs onto clothing, workwear and gifts.
I must admit I've fallen in love with G4, and the community around it (honestly, UK Bronies are what got my attention before the ponies did - they're up there with the most tolerant subcultures like goths). But there's still a shelf in my bedroom from which Applejack and Parasol gaze down sadly at me. "Where are the rest of my shoes?", "Didn't there used to be more of us?", "I'm pretty sure this isn't my hat."
I'm sure this PonyCon will go a long way toward remedying that problem. Whilst I'm excited to get back into appreciating the old ponies again, I am hoping I don't get bitten by the pony bug too badly, as I gave away most of my G1 ponies in a stupid fit of teenager-ism several years ago. Along with my completed CareBear & Cousins collection.. I don't even play the black guitar I bought with the money (but it admittedly takes up less space).
My fondest memories are of the handmade stables my parents made out of chopped up pony box interiors and paper, so whilst I miss them, I'm not sure I want to re-buy everything I owned, maybe it's instead time to find some new faves.
I'll be dragging my OH Mike to PonyCon as we'll be manning a stall, so far the only thing I've got him interested in is the "destroy a fakie" activity - he's a wargamer and figure painter and is already planning something strange. I'm not sure it constitutes "destroying" but it means he's actually touching a plastic horse, so I'm not going to stop it. Of course this means I'll have to try to one-up him!
*Inhales* Um.. hi.
